Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Piero Incisa della Rocchetta founded the Argentine winery Chacra in 2004 in the Río Negro region of Patagonia. After tasting a local Pinot Noir in New York, the renowned wine entrepreneur (nephew of Mario, the creator of Sassicaia) became captivated by the potential of the Mainqué terroir. The estate owns ungrafted vineyards planted as early as the 1930s. The unique soil and climate conditions create the ideal habitat for producing high-quality Pinot Noirs. The Pinot Noir grapes for the Treinta y Dos cuvée come from a small, two-hectare vineyard (farmed organically and biodynamically) planted in 1932 on soil characterized by layers of clay, sand, and pebbles. Here, the diurnal temperature shifts, constant winds, and iron-rich soils ensure the production of wines of great purity. After vinification, the finished wine rests for approximately 19 months in a mix of concrete tanks and used French oak barrels. The result is a wine of great character and elegance, widely acclaimed by critics as one of South America's finest Pinot Noirs. On the nose, it reveals a fragrant, complex aromatic profile featuring notes of violet, cherry, raspberry, and ripe cranberry, interspersed with hints of toasted spice. On the palate, it is ethereal and silky, soft yet fruit-forward. It displays a distinctive mineral streak and surprising vibrancy. The tannins are smooth, and the finish is long, deep, and fresh. It pairs beautifully with game birds.
