Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Spain, Elvi Wines is a family-owned kosher winery run by Ana and Moshe Cohen. The company produces a wide range of sparkling and still wines from various wine districts across the country, including Cava, La Rioja, Montsant, and Priorat. Made in limited quantities, EL26 is a red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Garnacha, and Syrah. The grapes are sourced from hillside vineyards in Priorat, where the poor slate soils, rich in the famous licorella, and the Mediterranean climate create ideal conditions for the production of powerful, structured wines capable of aging well. In the glass, the EL 26 reveals a deep, dark ruby ​​color. Its aromatic profile is broad and rich, with intense notes of dark fruit, especially black plum and black cherry, followed by spicy notes of white pepper, liqueur, and vanilla, and hints of tobacco and chocolate. On the palate, it is elegant, rich, and mineral. It has a full body, a pleasant fruit concentration, and firm yet well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and complex, with fruity aromas intertwined with spicy notes. Try it with beef brisket or roast lamb.
